Lieutenant, Chaplain Corps, U.S. Navy Reserve
Chaplain Rewis joined The ADVANCE Team after experiencing his own traumatic event and hearing Dr Vieten speak to a gathering of the Navy Chaplain Corps. He has served for 5 plus years as a Chaplain attached to our US Navy and Marine Corps. Both his father and brother are combat veteran Marines (Vietnam & Desert Storm). Serving as a Reserve Chaplain has been his way to give back. He joined the Chaplain Corps because, "If men and women are willing to leave their families, walk into harms way in order to protect our way of life, and perhaps even give up their life, then someone who does what I do (Pastor) ought to be willing to walk alongside them."
He holds a BA in Religion with a Minor in Biblical Languages from The University of the Cumberlands (1997) where he also played four years of football (NAIA). He received his Masters of Arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (2000). He later received a Masters of Arts Specialization in Family Ministry (2012) from the same. Since 2000 he has served the local church full-time in several capacities including Minster of Recreation, Singles, and then Lead Pastor of Corner-Stone Church which he launched out of his home in 2005. Since meeting Dr Vieten in 2014 he has been volunteering with her to meet the growing needs of our veterans and to reduce the rate of suicide among the men and women of our armed services. He takes special interest in seeing that all our members understand "Informed Consent."
Chaplain Rewis was assigned to 4th Marines CLR 45, Headquarters Co. (Atlanta, GA) for the first four years of his service. Today, in addition to serving a Marine unit at Navy Operational Support Center Orlando, FL where he resides, he is cross assigned to NR SURFLANTREADINESS HQ with duties at Commander Navy Surface Squadron 14 Mayport Ministry Center (Jacksonville, FL). He has taken on Warfighter Advance as his full-time civilian ministry. Chaplain Rewis regularly tells "the rest of his story" on the 5th night of our ADVANCE 7-Day. For the balance of the retreat week Chaplain Rewis can be found engaged in "deck-plate" ministry and support to our participants. Between ADVANCE evolutions, Chaplain Rewis is available full-time for Alumni support. Collateral organizational duties include: website management, marketing, and donor development.

"As Warfighters, we don’t go anywhere without our Chaplain (found Rewis in Jacksonville 2014). We are accustomed to having that person of refuge to lean on and trust with our darkest moments. In Chaplain Rewis, we also have first-hand testimony to the horror of misdiagnosis."
